Last year he was perhaps the biggest surprise of the race: Magnus Ditlev was already seen as a more than successful triathlete, but not so many people took into account that he could win DATEV Challenge Roth. Yet it was the Dane world-class athlete who was relentlessly strong and hurt all the favorites until the final meters. Even better; he won the race and made himself immortal thanks to his victory. This year Ditlev will return to DATEV Challenge Roth and will do everything within his power to defend his title. But now let’s enjoy some wonderful words Ditlev shared about this magical race in Germany.
“I’m excited to share this news with you! I will be on the start line, aiming to defend my DATEV Challenge Roth title from 2022 on June 25, 2023. My win at DATEV Challenge Roth last year was the best performance of my career so far. To be a part of this legendary race was on my bucket list, and to win it in my first try was simply amazing. The atmosphere all day long was incredible and I can’t thank Felix Walchshöfer and the DATEV Challenge Roth team, the volunteers, and all the spectators enough. I hope all triathletes will get to race Roth at least once in their life! The field will be stacked as always, and I hope to be able to contend for the win, and maybe even better my time, which was just 9 seconds short of Jan Frodeno’s record.”
