After receiving many requests from triathletes in the previous edition, a new marathon circuit has been designed that will pass through places such as Calle Mayor, Palacio Real, Senado, Plaza de España, Templo de Debod or Paseo Rosales painter.
The Challenge Madrid team has already extended the cut-off times on the cycling circuit by 30 minutes. During the last months he has been working to give a total change to the marathon circuit in order to satisfy the wishes of all the triathletes.
Challenge Madrid will be the Official European Long Distance Championship of the ETU, so the great stars of the European triathlon and other continents will meet in this new edition that ensures a wide national and international media coverage.
Juanan Fernández, director of Challenge Spain, highlights the importance of this great change. “For us it was a priority task, we have a unique bicycle in the world, with a unique tour, with exclusive landscapes, with ports envied by any cycling event, but it is true that the race on foot was a pending task and was a popular request, We had to improve it. Undoubtedly the circuit is now spectacular, if you reach the door of the sun, km 0 is already arriving with “goose bumps” now be able to tour the center of Madrid with places like the Senate or Plaza España, the Templo de Debod, Calle Mayor, it seems like a dream come true, any triathlete or athlete dreams of running through the center of a capital and not parks or parks, it is without doubt a dream that adds to the beauty of the bike. We are very happy to be able to offer this opportunity to all international triathletes and that is to be the European Championship, this will undoubtedly be a promotional action of Madrid ideal for sports tourism. We are very happy of such news and improvement for all, because here we all win, organization, triathletes and Madrid!”
