Pablo Dapena Gonzalez ends career as professional athlete

Spaniard Pablo Gonzalez Dapena has announced he will end his career as a professional athlete next month – October, 2023. Gonzalez Dapena raced Challenge Family Races frequently during his career, almost always finishing at the front of races and is considered one of the most successful Spanish triathletes of his generation. This year he will race Challenge Peguera-Mallorca as hist last Challenge Family race.

Since 2017, Gonzalez Dapena has finished inside the top six in Challenge Family races no less than 21 times as a pro. In 2018, he finished second at the Challenge Family World Bonus and in 2021, he finished fourth. He won numerous races and was on the podium at least as often.

Gonzalez Dapena went to study in Hungary in 2009 and also started triathlon during that time. “From there, my story is already known. It has been thirteen very intense years that have flown by and on October 22 will close a stage, but surely another door will open, the same always linked to triathlon. It’s time to give back everything this sport has given me. Thank you.”
