Magda Nieuwoudt after winning Challenge Davos: ‘I’m not used to these long crazy climbs, but it suited me well’

If you want to win Challenge Davos – and that is what Magda Nieuwoudt wanted – you have to climb: during the bike the Flüelapass needs to be climbed twice, and that climb doesn’t lie for sure. In the end, the South African athlete was so strong managed to win the race, despite the fact she’s not used to climbing.

“I’m appy for taking the win at Challenge Davos. Conquering the challenging Flüellapass on a borrowed road bike with taped gels on the top tube like when I started triathlons. I am not used to these long crazy climbs, but it suited me well and I was happy with how my body felt in the swim, bike and run. Maybe I need some work on the decent. Luckily I did fix those back brakes last week because going down 80 kilometer an hour and not knowing the area was a bit scary!

“Thanks to everyone behind the scenes making dreams come true step by step.”
