A bike ride for heroes: The world-famous Transcontinental Race has started at our Challenge Geraardsbergen finish location!

Cycling from Belgium – exactly the place where all athletes finish their Challenge Geraardsbergen – to Greece: the Transcontinental Race started last weekend. The bike ride is known as one of the toughest or perhaps even the toughest bike ride in the world and takes participants over thousands of kilometers (a lot of off-road roads as well) and thousands of altimeters. Participation is completely self-supported.

The route is different every year, but one thing is always the same: a huge amount of the participants – 326 in total this year – do not reach the finish of the event. The Transcontinental Race is therefore for real die-hards. You determine the route yourself, as long as you pass the various checkpoints to get a stamp. You should reach the finish within about two weeks. A wonderful documentary about the Transcontinental Race – and the determination with which the riders participate – can be seen on Netflix and by clicking here. Guaranteed that it will give you extra motivation to train some extra!
