About the Local Area

Montpellier is in the south of France, 10km from the Mediterranean Sea. Dynamic, rich in important historical heritage including the St Pierre Gothic Cathedral which dates from 1364, the oldest Faculty of Medicine in the world and the Fabre Museum. Its current development is distinguished by bold, chic and modern architecture as seen in Antigone and along the banks of Le Lez, as well as the striking new town hall. Its relaxed lifestyle and festive neighbourhoods contribute to its appeal as a destination.

About the Race

The 3.8km/1.9km swim start is based at Le Prévost beach in Villeneuve lès Maguelone, just 10km from Montpellier. The water quality is exceptional and has been recognised for more than 30 years under the Blue Flag label.

The bike is a single, 180km/90km loop through which you will cross classified towns and typical landscapes of the south, La Taillade, Les Gorges de l’Hérault, Le Pic Saint Loup and its vineyards before arriving at T2 at Le Zénith Sud de Montpellier festival complex.

The multi-lap 42.2km/21.1km run goes along Le Lez, the smallest river in France, allowing triathletes to discover the new iconic architecture of Montpellier, Antigone, Arbre Blanc, Nouvelle Mairie and the Port Marianne district before enjoying the finish line celebrations at Le Zénith, basking in your achievement!
