About the Local Area

Salvelletri is considered among the most beautiful seaside villages in Puglia, with its picturesque little port and very interesting culture, as well as being known for the excellent fish strictly fresh and served raw. Not far from Savelletri is the Archaeological Park of Egnazia, where it is possible to admire the remains of the ancient city from Roman times and the ruins of the necropolis, basilica and “Tomba dei Melograni”. Just a few kilometres away is also the safari zoo “Fasanolandia,” a real paradise for children and perfect for families, where they can admire and interact with so many animal species from all over the world.

Savelletri’s pride and joy are undoubtedly its enchanting beaches, and a wonderful sea awarded the blue flag. The coastline alternates sandy stretches with cliffs and shallow waters. In addition, from the town you can easily reach and visit other beautiful locations in Puglia (Monopoli, Ostuni, Polignano a Mare, Cisternino, Locorotondo and Alberobello).

About the Race

The 113km course encompasses the best of the region – the crystal clear sea, iconic Italian countryside and areas rich in culture and history such as the ancient Roman city at the archaeological site of Egnazia. The point-to-point 1.9km swim takes place in the Adriatic Sea off the Savelletri coast followed by a two-lap 90km of scenic cycling from the coast into the hinterland with its characteristic trulli. The three-lap 21km run goes from the coast, through the countryside of the immediate hinterland before finishing by the ocean at Cala Masciola, Borgo Egnazia’s private beach.
