At Challenge Cerrado, athletes will watch the sunrise at the calm waters of Lake Paranoá, bike in the great roads of the city of Brasilia, and run at the beatiful surroudings of Pontão do Lago Sul. The entire event provides activities for everyone in the family, including Junior Challenge and Challenge for ALL. The predominant climate is tropical-hot-sub-humid, with two well-defined seasons: dry (from May to September) and rainy (October to April). From October to April, Brazilian ‘veranicos’ may occur: a period characterized by a period of three weeks of heat and drought. The annual average temperature varies from 21 to 27 ºC, with hot days and cooler nights.
Brasília stands out for the architectural and urbanistic set, and by an open blue sky. Lúcio Costa was the city’s main town planner and Oscar Niemeyer created most of the public buildings. Seen from above, the route of the city resembles an airplane because of the meeting of two axes: the Monumental Axis and Road Axis, embraced by Lake Paranoá. The Monumental Axis concentrates many attractions: the Three Powers Square, the Planalto Palace, the National Congress, the Brasília Metropolitan Cathedral and the Mané Garrincha National Stadium. A short walk allows you to contemplate other things like the landscaping of Burle Marx, a criticism of Athos Bulcão and the stained glass windows of Marianne Peretti.
The federal capital was conceived in the middle of the Cerrado, type of vegetation, to preserve it. The visitor has access to native species in the middle of the landscape, knowing several native fruit trees, such as cagaita, mangaba and bacupari. Not to mention that a city offers other fruits outdoors. Lake Paranoá, surrounded by clubs and several leisure options, is a “brasilienses beach”. Its waterfront offers excellent restaurants and bars. During the weekends, its waters are occupied by water sports, such as Stand Up Paddle (SUP), canoeing, kitesurfing, wakeboarding and wakesurfing.
