With regret we have to announce that there will be no CHALLENGEPRAGUE this year. At this moment it’s not clear if this iconic race in the heart of Czech Republic can return in the upcoming years. This is what the local organization just announced. Race Director Tomas Vrzák says: “Sorry, we did our very best to continue the race, but due to several issues we are not able to organize it in 2020”.
Vrzák explains that it was a very hard, but necessary decision to make. “There are a number of reasons to cancel CHALLENGEPRAGUE. Mainly logistical reasons as the courses are in the middle of a busy capital city, but also the discontinuation of the title sponsor didn’t help. In the end I think it’s a big shame that we have to skip this race on the international triathlon calendar. Last years we really put a lot of effort in this race and we have enjoyed it from the beginning.”
Also Jort Vlam, CHALLENGEFAMILY’s CEO, is disappointed. “It’s always a shame when a race needs to make a decision like this, especially when it’s such an iconic and high quality race as CHALLENGEPRAGUE. We want to thank Tomas and his whole team for all the hard work they have done and we hope that together we find new opportunities to return in the future.”
