CHALLENGECANCUN, in conjunction with the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council and the Municipality of Benito Juárez, announces the progress of the event’s second edition, slated to take place May 2, 2021.

CHALLENGECANCUN, touted as the best medium-distance event in the Mexican Caribbean, has the privilege of announcing that after a year of uncertainty and date changes due to the global health crisis, today is close to its maximum participation quota.

In its first edition, in 2019, CHALLENGECANCUN debuted as one of the best multisport events in Mexico, with the Mexican Caribbean as the top venue as a sports tourism destination. It offered competitors and their companions the attractions and services this area has become known for over the years. This second edition will not be an exception, further exalting the quality of service and attention that characterizes this destination, by implementing all sanitation and security measures and protocols in all event locations as well as with its staffing.

Likewise, many of the main players in the tourism sector of Cancun, such as the Hotel Association, the Cancun International Airport, and tourism service providers have come together to make this event one to remember.

Beautiful destination guarantees a scenic race course
The incomparable turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean Sea at Playa Langosta beach will once again witness 1.9 kilometers of swimming, followed by the spectacular cycling route running along Bonampak and Kukulcan Boulevards, a circuit of laps to reach 90 kilometers total distance. Transition 2 will be located in the center of Cancun, taking advantage of the natural beauty of Tajamar, where competitors will begin the 21 run kilometer route on Bonampak Avenue, completing three laps, and then reaching the finish line located in front of the famed Nichupté Lagoon.

International field with Gomez Noya
On this occasion, the more than 3,000 athletes and companions, many of which are estimated to come from abroad, will have the great experience of staying at Aloft Cancun, the host hotel for this event. There, they will receive their goodie bag and transportation to the event from the hotel.
