The 2025 edition of Challenge Xiamen takes place this weekend, on Saturday 1 November, bringing world-class triathlon racing to the spectacular Huandong Romantic Coast at Tong\u2019an Bay in southeast China. A total of 25 professional athletes are confirmed to race, promising an exciting day of competition on one of the fastest and most scenic coastal courses in Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The men\u2019s field features a strong line-up of international athletes and returning Challenge Family regulars.
Ognjen Stojanovi\u0107 (SRB) leads the start list as one of the most experienced professionals in the sport. With 10 races this year, including seven Challenge Family events and four podium finishes, Stojanovi\u0107\u2019s consistency and experience make him one to watch. Sam Osborne (NZL) is another strong contender, having raced seven times this season, achieved two podiums, and demonstrated strong form throughout 2025. Kieran Storch (AUS), winner of Challenge Taiwan Half, opened his season with a victory and will look to continue that success in Xiamen. Other notable names include Jonathan Guisolan (SUI), Nicholas Free (AUS), and local favourite Hao Miao (CHN), who will be looking to impress on home soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The women\u2019s race also brings together a competitive field of established and emerging talents. Returning champion, Alanis Siffert (SUI), just 23 years old, has enjoyed a breakout year with five wins from ten races, including Challenge Taiwan Half, and a third-place finish at Challenge Roth, positioning her as one of the standout athletes of 2025. Amelia Watkinson (NZL) enters the weekend with three podiums this season, including second at Challenge Samarkand, and continues to show her consistency across the Challenge Family circuit. Sara Perez Sala (ESP), winner of Challenge Samarkand and runner-up at Challenge Sir Bani Yas, has shown strong form in recent weeks and will aim to carry that momentum into Xiamen. They are joined by Chloe Hartnett (AUS), local favourite Wang Siyu (CHN), and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event begins with a 1.9km swim in the calm waters of Tong\u2019an Bay, followed by a 90km bike and 21.1km run along a dedicated, traffic-free coastal track. With panoramic views of the sea throughout, the course is designed for fast racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Held on 1 November 2025, Challenge Xiamen continues to grow as a key race on the Challenge Family calendar and one of Asia\u2019s premier middle-distance triathlon events. The weekend also includes Olympic and sprint distances, as well as a duathlon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
