We just read a very impressive story on Triathlon Today<\/a>: 81-year-old Johannes Maros Mosehla completed the Comrades Marathon. The Comrades Marathon is a world-famous ultrarun over 90 kilometers – including lots of altimeters – and is considered one of the toughest events in the world. The pace Johannes Maros Mosehla ran: 6:28 minutes per kilometer. And next year? Next year he wants to participate again and improve his own record. The passion with which this man trains and races, who only started running at the age of 60, is simply admirable. \u201cYou shouldn\u2019t look at your age, but what your body can still do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Comrades Marathon has been organized since 1921 and is a tribute to the South African soldiers who lost their lives during World War I. The 90-kilometer race has two variations: each year the start and finish locations at Pietermaritzburg and Durban are reversed. As a result, you have an uphill and a downhill edition. This year\u2019s run was mainly downhill, which means Maros Mosehla will face a considerably bigger challenge improving his time next year.<\/p>\n

In this year\u2019s edition, nearly 93 percent of the more than 16,000 runners made it to the finish line of the Comrades Marathon. It is the highest percentage of finishers in the event\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
