Unfortunately for fans around the world, the Australian triathlete, who won just about everything there was to win, has announced her retirement as a professional athlete. Carfrae traveled around the world, competed in all of the biggest races and very often climbed the top step of the podium. She was an inspiration to young children, but for sure to older and more experienced athletes as well. She gave fans joy with wonderful victories. Her career as a top triathlete can be considered one of the most successful. Below are some stunning photos from her Challenge Roth 2014 victory: with a time of 8:38:53, she then stayed ahead of Rachel Joyce and Caroline Steffen, among others. But first we have a look to the wonderful words with which she herself announced her retirement:<\/p>\n
“The feeling is absolute and complete happiness! It\u2019s almost overwhelming as I reflect on my journey as a triathlete spanning over two decades. This sport has gifted me with lifelong friendships, a beautiful family, and the opportunity to represent amazing companies who believed in me and became part of my journey. Throughout my time as a triathlete, I have experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, but I wouldn\u2019t change a single thing. I am grateful for every moment, every challenge, and every triumph, as they have shaped me into the person I am today.”<\/p>\n
“I have LIVED my dreams and created memories that will last a lifetime. The risk I took to embark on this journey to become a triathlete has been the best decision of my life. But now, it\u2019s time I move onto the next chapter and I can\u2019t help but feel excited about what\u2019s to come. I am certain that this new journey will bring just as much fulfillment and joy as my time as a triathlete.”<\/p>\n
