The family-friendly international multi-sport festival has a star-studded professional roster, which now includes world champion, Lucy Charles-Barclay (GBR).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have always had a great experience at <strong><em>CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong><em>FAMILY<\/em> races and so when the team at <em><strong>CHALLENGE<\/strong>DAYTONA<\/em> invited me to race this unique and exciting event I could not resist. I look forward to racing under lights at such an iconic venue,\u201d said Charles-Barclay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLucy Charles-Barclay is a born competitor. She hunts for victory. It\u2019s been thrilling to watch her compete and take first place this year at <strong><em>CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong><em>ROTH<\/em> and <strong><em>THE<\/em><\/strong><em>CHAMPIONSHIP<\/em>. We are\u00a0incredibly excited to have her competing at <em><strong>CHALLENGE<\/strong>DAYTONA<\/em>,\u201d says\u00a0<strong><em>CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong><em>FAMILY<\/em> CEO Zibi Szlufcik.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Daytona International Speedway<\/strong> President Chip Wile<\/em> adds,<br \/>\n\u201cLucy Charles-Barclay is an athlete to the core and has become a triathlon sensation. To be a fan favorite, you must be excellent at your craft, but you have to be exciting. You must deliver special moments into the triathlon lexicon. Charles-Barclay has certainly done that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Charles-Barclay (GBR) and professional athletes will compete in <strong>Daytona Distance Under the Lights<\/strong> professional race format, which will include a two-lap, 1-mile swim; a 15-lap, 37.5-mile bike; and an 8.2-mile run\u2014all within the Daytona International Speedway property. The entire course is optimized for viewing, with opportunities for spectators to get up close and cheer for their favorite pros midway through the swim, all along the bike and run legs, and at each transition juncture. <strong>The unique Daytona Distance Under the Lights <\/strong>race, exclusive to the professional field, will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 14th. The start time provides prime viewing for age group athletes competing in either Saturday\u2019s Sprint Distance events or Sunday\u2019s Middle Distance events. The late start is also designed to create an unprecedented sensory experience, as the lights at Daytona International Speedway\u2014normally reserved solely for NASCAR racing, sports cars and Supercross \u2014will illuminate the track at 5:30 p.m., just as the Florida sun sets and the pros speed around the track.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone interested in participating in the numerous events offered at\u00a0<strong><em>CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong><em>DAYTONA<\/em> \u2014including Sprint and Middle Distance Triathlons (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run), the Junior Challenge kids\u2019 race, Relay categories, Duathlon and Aquabike events, and 5K\/10K run\/walk events\u2014is invited to visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.challenge-daytona.com\/\">www.challenge-daytona.com<\/a>\u00a0for more information and to register. The top six male and female finishers in each Middle-Distance Triathlon age group will qualify for entry in\u00a0<strong><em>THE<\/em><\/strong><em>CHAMPIONSHIP<\/em>,\u00a0to be held on May 31, 2020 at the x-bionic sphere in Samorin, Slovakia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About\u00a0<em>CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong><em>DAYTONA<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Are you ready to swim, bike, and run at the \u201cWorld Center of Racing\u00ae\u201d?
