{"id":17934,"date":"2019-10-30T19:21:09","date_gmt":"2019-10-30T19:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.challenge-family.com\/challenge-family\/uncategorized\/challenge-family-returns-to-cancun-in-2020\/"},"modified":"2024-05-29T15:46:13","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T15:46:13","slug":"challenge-family-returns-to-cancun-in-2020","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.challenge-family.com\/challenge-family\/news\/challenge-family-returns-to-cancun-in-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Challenge Family returns to Canc\u00fan in 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Canc\u00fan is the only destination in M\u00e9xico that has the <em><strong>CHALLENGE<\/strong>FAMILY<\/em> license, positioning itself<br \/>\nas a favorite location for the triathon.<\/li>\n<li>Canc\u00fan has an important registry of athletes from 10 countries and is expected to reach its goal<br \/>\nof 1,500 athletes, plus 3,000 companions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Canc\u00fan, Oct. 29, 2019 \u2013 Canc\u00fan, Quintana Roo\u2019s top destination, will once again host the <i>CHALLENGEFAMILY<\/i><\/strong><strong> triathlon series, an event of international importance that features athletes from all over the <\/strong><strong>world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On April 26, 2020, nearly 1,500 competitors from Germany, Italy, Spain, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Brazil, among others, will meet at Playa Langosta to swim 1.9 kilometers in the incomparable turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean sea. A spectacular 90-kilometer cycling route will cover Bonampak and Kukulc\u00e1n Avenues, in a circuit that displays the beauty of Canc\u00fan to competitors and spectators. Finally, competitiors will race a three-lap, 21-kilometer course on Bonampak Avenue to reach the finish line at Tec Milenio University. For its second edition, <em><strong>CHALLENGE<\/strong>CANC\u00daN<\/em> will open additional events for triathlete companions. The activities will include a beach race; Beach Fun Run for kids; and Challange Open Water at varying distances.<\/p>\n<p>The awards ceremony at Palapas Park will celebrate the elite athletes with a $15,000 prize pool, and the six first-place winners of each category will receive the classification to the<em>\u00a0<strong>THE<\/strong>CHAMPIONSHIP <\/em>in Samorin, Slovakia, in addition to their respective trophies. This prestigious international event is endorsed by the Mexican Triathlon Federation resulting from the collaboration of the Quintana Roo Tourism Board, the Canc\u00fan and Puerto Morelos Hotel Association, and the City Council of Benito Ju\u00e1rez.
