Of course it\u2019s not just the strong pro field that makes this event so attractive, but also the incredible venue where this race takes place.<\/p>\n<p>With 19 male pros and 10 female pros, the field is definitely tough and powerful. One of the biggest names in the men\u2019s race for the 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and last but not least the 21.1 km run, is Mike Phillips from New Zealand. Nevertheless, Phillips can expect a hard battle against a number of Australian guys including Joe Gambles, Luke McKenzie, Matt Burton and Levi Maxwell.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re all going to be racing at this fabulous event in the spectacular surroundings of Melbourne, the renowned sporting capital of the world and the first long-course triathlon to be held in the inner city region of Bayside. <strong><em>CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong><em>MELBOURNE <\/em>features a 1-lap protected ocean swim in Port Phillip Bay, a 3-lap bike ride on the picturesque and famous Beach Road followed by a 3-lap run overlooking the bay. The course is flat and therefore very fast.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s race, it\u2019s likely to be the Czech athlete Radka Kahlefeldt, who\u2019s in with one of the best chances to claim victory in Melbourne. She\u2019s &#8216;on fire&#8217; right now with numerous wins under her belt this season already. For Kahlefeldt, <em><strong>CHALLENGE<\/strong>MELBOURNE<\/em> is one of the most important races this season and she\u2019s eager to continue her success.<\/p>\n<p>Kahlefeldt will of course be faced with some very strong competition in Melbourne.
