Kovacic wins Challenge Almere-Amsterdam and joins the top three in the Challenge Family World Bonus. Van Vlerken expands her lead after victory.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jaroslav Kovacic took the winat CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong>ALMERE-AMSTERDAM <\/em>and earned 500 points for the Challenge Family World Bonus. These additional 500 points have increased his total to 1250. This result has pushed Kovacic up to third position in the rankings. Yvonne van Vlerken was currently in the lead before CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong>ALMERE-AMSTERDAM <\/em>but her victory has strengthend her lead by a further 500 points.<\/p>\n

In the men’s ranking, it’s still Sebastian Kienle who is in the lead. Despite the German not racing any Challenge event this weekend, his 1550 points still keep him at the top. Similarly, Pablo Gonzales Dapena chose not to race in Almere but is still able to maintain his second position in the rankings with 1300 points. Kovacic\u2019s victory and 500 points earned in Almere have increased his total to 1250 points and he now holds third position in the rankings.<\/p>\n

While CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong>ALMERE-AMSTERDAM<\/em>was won by Kovacic, Cameron Wurf took second place. Kovacic not only overtook Wurf during the last 8 kilometers of the run, but also in the Challenge Family World Bonus ranking. Wurf was able to seize 400 points but these only increased his total to 1200. Kristian H\u00f8genhaug came third at CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong>ALMERE-AMSTERDAM<\/em>and earned his first 300 points of the season. He is currently 14th in the rankings.<\/p>\n

Female rankings<\/strong><\/p>\n

The women’s race at CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong>ALMERE-AMSTERDAM <\/em>was dominated by Yvonne van Vlerken. She retains her title from last year and has increased her total by a further 500 points. She\u2019s currently at the top of the rankings with 1500 points and ahead of Laura Siddall, who didn’t participate at a Challenge race at the weekend but still remains in second position with 950 points in total. Similarly, Katrien Verstuyft didn\u2019t race at CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong>ALMERE-AMSTERDAM <\/em>and wasn\u2019t able to add to her 780 points but still holds third position in the Challenge Family World Bonus.<\/p>\n

While CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong>ALMERE-AMSTERDAM<\/em>was dominated by Yvonne van Vlerken, Els Visser did a great job by coming second. She was incredibly happy to earn her first 400 points, which put her in 13th position in the rankings. Lina Kristin Schenk finished third and also earned her first 300 points of the season. She currently shares 18th place, together with Yu Shiao Li, Anne Haug and Pleuni Hooijman.<\/p>\n

Upcoming<\/strong><\/p>\n

The next opportunity to earn points is at CHALLENGE<\/em><\/strong>DAVOS<\/em>. This race takes place in Switzerland on the 16th September 2018. The $165kend-of-season bonus will pay five deep across both male and female with the top ranked Pro taking home $30k. Second place will carry a bonus of $20k, third, fourth and fifth positions will pay $15k, $12k and $5k accordingly. Ranking will be decided through a fair points system based on placings earned. The system is explained fully here: http:\/\/www.challenge-family.com\/pro-athletes\/<\/a><\/p>\n

In the event of a tie, the prize money will be averaged between the two athletes and corresponding places.<\/p>\n
