The bi-national Itaipu hydroelectric power plant, located in the city of Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná state, southern Brazil, on the border of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, will hold an unique Challenge Family event. It’s called the Challenge Sunset, and will be held at night. Registration will open on March 1st, 2017. The event will take place on the weekend of September 7th, 2017 (Brazil’s Independence day weekend). Because of the holiday, a lot of Brazilians’ athletes are expected. The main event (Half Distance triathlon on Saturday, September 9th) will be the first one starting at the sunset and finishing at the end of the night. And also, at the same day it will hold the Challenge Sprint Distance, starting at 5pm.
There will be a lot of opportunities for the entire family to join and share a great weekend together. The fun will begin on Friday (September 8th): starting at 4pm, it will be Challenge Junior (for kids from 7 to 15 years old); the other race that will take place on the same day at 5:30pm will be the Challenge Women, an exclusive walk/run event for women only; and finally the Challenge For All, a 10k run.
