Fernando Alarza and Lucy Gossage lead the great number of professionals taking part in Challenge Peguera Mallorca 2018

The 5th edition of Challenge Peguera Mallorca takes place this weekend and many professionals, including Fernando Alarza, Jaroslav Kovacic, Pablo Dapena, Lucy Gossage and Margie Santimaria, will be taking taking part. The high quality of the race or simply finishing the season by the seaside, are just a few good reasons to come to Peguera.

Challenge Peguera could be decisive for the Challenge Family World Bonus for some of the professionals taking part. Peguera is the penultimate race of the European circuit and there are triathletes that, depending on their result, could see their prize guaranteed. This is particularly the case for Pablo Dapena, Jaroslav Kovacic, Margie Santimaria and Katrien Verstuyft.

The Spanish long-distance world champion, Pablo Dapena, is currently in second place in the Challenge Family World Bonus after winning Challenge Lisboa and Challenge Mogan-Gran Canaria. He also finished in second in Challenge Madrid, Challenge Rome and Challenge Salou. Jaroslav Kovacic is third right now and very close to Dapena after winning Challenge Venice and Challenge Almere. There are only 250 points between them.

Regarding the female championship, Margie Santimaria is currently fourth with 790 points after achieving several podiums this season. One of her closest competitors will be Katrien Verstuyft, currently fifth and only ten points behind, after winning Challenge Prague and finishing second in Challenge Lisboa.

There will of course be many other prestigious triathletes in Challenge Peguera Mallorca. Fernando Alarza, European runner-up in the Olympic distance triathlon and regular participant in the World Triathlon Series, Lucy Gossage, winner of 12 Ironman events, and Sofie Goos, who will compete in her last professional race at Challenge Peguera Mallorca.

It’s going to be a very exciting race for the triathletes. This edition will not only host a large number of amateur participants (Age Groups), but also an incredible number of professionals led by Alarza and Gossage.
