After the European Championship at CHALLENGEMADRID this weekend, the excitement returns to the Challenge Family World Bonus. Laura Siddall was crowned European Champion, earned 500 points and is now only 50 points behind the current female leader Yvonne van Vlerken. Pablo Gonzalez Dapena earned 400 points, thanks to his second place at the European Championship, and is similarly only 50 points behind the current male leader Sebastian Kienle.
At the women’s European Championship it was Siddall who dictated the race from the second part of the bike course. Alexandra Tondeur had a great run, but the Belgian wasn’t fast enough to close the gap and take the win. She came second behind Siddall, who earned 500 points, and added 400 points to her total. Lisa Roberts took third place at CHALLENGEMADRID and earned an additional 300 points in the Challenge Family World Bonus.
Yvonne van Vlerken didn’t race in Madrid, but still is in the lead with a total of 1500 points. Only last week, her total looked comfortable for the win, but now Laura Siddall is chasing hard with 1450 points. Lisa Roberts is currently in third place in the rankings with 1100 points. Katrien Verstuyft (780), Lucy Charles (775) and Daniela Sämmler (750) are ranked as fourth, fifth and sixth.

Male Ranking
Timothy van Houtem dictated the men’s race at the European Championship in Madrid. Despite the Belgian coming out of the water behind all the favorites, it was his powerful performance on the bike and run that lead to victory and the Championship title. Van Houtem earned his first 500 points of the season, which put him straight in to 8th place in the ranking.
Second place at CHALLENGEMADRID was Pablo Gonzalez Dapena. He increased his total by 400 points and now has 1500. He is currently only fifty points behind the current leader Sebastian Kienle (1550), who didn’t race the European Championship. It’s still Jaroslav Kovacic in third place in the rankings. The Slovenian has 1250 points in total. Morten Brammer Olesen came third at the European Championship and earned his first 300 points. He now shares 16th place, together with Kristian Høgenhaug.

Upcoming
The next opportunity to earn points is at CHALLENGEPEGUERA-MALLORCA. This race takes place in Spain on the 20th October 2018. The $165k end-of-season bonus will pay five deep across both male and female with the top ranked Pro taking home $30k. Second place will carry a bonus of $20k, third, fourth and fifth positions will pay $15k, $12k and $5k accordingly. Ranking will be decided through a fair points system based on placings earned. In the event of a tie, the prize money will be averaged between the two athletes and corresponding places.
