COLUCCI WINS THE SECOND EDITION OF CHALLENGE FAMILY RACE IN BRASILIA

Brasília, 22nd of April – A triathlon event that had more than just the PRO field competition for the $ 45,000 prize: the public, who filled the Pontão do Lago Sul on Sunday, witnessed an actual on race marriage, where both athletes were competing in the half distance race wearing their wedding suits,  and a request for marriage as well.

The event gathered more than 1,000 athletes in two races, the first one being the sprint (750m / 20k / 5k) and then the half distance race with 1.9k of swimming, 90K of cycling and 21k of running, a total of 112 kilometers. The champion of the half was the triathlete Reinaldo Colucci who finished the course in 3h43min33sec.

On second place came Marcus Fernandes with 3h47min (second place) and Bruno Mateus who crossed the finish with 3h47min22sec.

In the female PRO field there were two triathletes: Carol Furriela and Nayara Luniére, both from Brazil. Nayara had issues in the course and did not complete the race. Furriela was the winner with the time of 4h24min55sec

What led the pubic to delirium was the marriage proposal of analyst Amilton Lobo to his girlfriend, the psychologist Patrícia Costa. The two have been dating for ten years, have a daughter and only now will formalize the union. Amilton planned it all on her own and asked the Challenge organization for the secret because he wanted to make a surprise. Patricia crossed the finish line hand in hand with her boyfriend and later, with the help of the official announcer, Amilton made the request. Patricia said YES at the time, even still suprised and timid with all the euphoria that the request caused in the public present.

On the relay teams Leandro, Zibi Slufcik, and Tiago Canabrava made took the wind of the day, and qualified for the Championship in Slovakia.

OFFICIAL WEDDING

The emotions of the day did not end there and another moment was eagerly awaited by a group of triathletes who had already finished the race and waited for the couple Raquel Gomes and Rodrigo Pinto to cross the finish line.

The two held a symbolic wedding celebrated by the father of the bride, retiree Dionisio Lopes who blessed the union. Family and friends even organized a bachelorette party for Raquel throughout the race, ending the ceremony with champagne and rice rain.

The couple are now on a honeymoon with plans to train, since they have a new triathlon event in a month.
