CHALLENGEDAYTONA Joins Forces with Bike Law

CHALLENGEDAYTONA is thrilled to announce a new and impactful relationship with Bike Law, a North American network of legal advocates for cyclists. The inaugural CHALLENGEFAMILY triathlon festival of events, set to take place at Daytona International Speedway, will partner with Bike Law to promote the mission of safe cycling on race day and every day, for cyclists everywhere.

Rachael Maney, Bike Law’s Director, knows the importance of cycling safety first hand. “Partnering with CHALLENGEDAYTONA is important to me because as a former crash victim, someone who rides their bike every day, and Bike Law’s resident triathlete, I see incredible value in the unique opportunity to support a like-minded race organization that not only focuses on providing each athlete with a special race experience, but shares in Bike Law’s belief that protecting our cycling community and advocating for better, safer biking conditions is of great importance,” she says. In addition to sharing her passion for safe cycling advocacy, Maney will bring her love of endurance sports to the partnership as she prepares to toe the start line at CHALLENGEDAYTONA.

For CHALLENGEDAYTONA, partnering with Bike Law is an intuitive extension of the CHALLENGEFAMILY brand ethos. “CHALLENGEFAMILY is all about the athlete. Our events around the world are focused on community and on the experiences we deliver to our participants,” says CHALLENGEFAMILY CEO Zibi Szlufcik. “Safety is a critically important aspect of that—for our athletes on race day and as they train for events, and also for community members who are inspired to ride after witnessing the accomplishments and excitement of our races. We want people to come away from CHALLENGEFAMILY races feeling motivated. We also want them to feel safe and secure in pursuing their athletic goals, wherever and whenever they choose to ride.”

While there’s no substitute for inclusive infrastructure, Bike Law is dedicated to softening the dynamic between bikes and cars, mitigating distracted driving, demanding protective legislation (such as Safe Passing and Vulnerable Road User laws), the pursuit of cycling justice, substantially decreasing bicycle crash statistics, and opening the door for anyone and everyone to join the sport of cycling. As Bob Mionske, two-time Olympian and Bike Law co-founder says, “Cyclists have had a right to ride safely on the road since before the invention of the car; and protecting that right is job number one at Bike Law.” CHALLENGEDAYTONA athletes and Daytona Beach-area community members will have the opportunity to learn more about Bike Law’s mission and resources through events hosted at local retailers Epic Cycles and The Running Elements.

The CHALLENGEDAYTONA festival weekend, scheduled for December 7-9, 2018, provides an event for every level of athlete, with an emphasis on inclusion. The weekend roster of races features Sprint and Middle Distance Triathlons, the Junior Challenge kids’ race, Relay categories, Duathlon and Aquabike events, 10K run and 5K run/walk events, and the all-new NASCAR-inspired Pitstop Challenge. As an incentive for the more serious competitors, the top six male and female finishers in each Middle Distance Triathlon age group will qualify for THECHAMPIONSHIP, to be held on June 2nd 2019 at the x-bionic sphere in Samorin, Slovakia.
